Welcome, new freshmen, to our blog! The goal of this site is to inform new students like you of the best places to be in BG. Instead of making you figure out the hot spots on your own, we've decided to do that work for you. Each of us has visited one place either on the BGSU campus or in the city of BG to evaluate whether or not it's worth your time. Steve & Barry’s; the new franchise
Within the past few years, the wholesale warehouse Steve & Barry’s has grown into a large well know industry. The contents of this store consist of wholesale Steve & Barry tops, bottoms and other accessories. There are great prices throughout the whole store that are very sensitive to any middle classed American consumer. This steadily growing chain has even found a way to manage having lower prices than its leading competitor Wal-Mart! The casual clothing chain sells their product at an average of $7.98 per item; shoes and coats included. “Shopping at Steve and Barry’s is like having a 40% discount on items at Wal-Mart.” (Burner, Robert “Smart shoppers of today” Business week April 10, 2006). The 42-year-old males Steve and Barry, have been selling low priced college logo merchandise since their college years. With its great customer service, wide selection of merchandise, reasonable prices, and carefully strategize locations, Steve & Barry’s will soon become one of the largest most successful wholesale warehouses’ this nation has seen.
Having Good customer service is one of the many factors that is important to the success of Steve & Barry’s new franchise. Good customer service is good for and beneficial to a business because it does not scare customers away; it confirms the stores’ trustworthiness and it keeps the consumers coming. If a consumer were to go into a store, and have an employee be rude to them, that consumer would not want to go back to that store. Not only will that consumer not want to go back to the business, they will encourage their friends and loved ones to not go into the store as well. If this pattern were to continue, a business would loose a lot of customers, in the long run it would lose the company a lot of money. People do not want to spend their hard earned money in a place where they do not feel respected. Having a staff that has a positive attitude and respectful nature is no doubt beneficial to a business; it does not turn people away or cause them to not want to shop at that particular place anymore. Steve & Barry’s has done a great job with its customer service; no matter what branch you go to, the customer service is always top notch. The floor workers are always kind, helpful, and they walk around with the attitude that they actually want to be there to help you. Cashiers are also wonderful employees, they are also very patient with the consumers, they are kind, courteous and helpful; you cannot find customer service like this in many places.
To maintain a successful business, one needs consumers; a business will not succeed if it does not have an adequate amount of consumers. Having a wide variety of merchandise helps a company keep its consumers. If a store continued to have the same merchandise all of the time, consumers would get bored with the selection and stop coming to the store. They would then take their business elsewhere and they would also begin advising their friends and families to do the same. This decline in customers ultimately hurts the business in the long run because no one is buying their products; in result that company makes no money, causing them to go broke. Steve & Barry’s are also responsible for having a wide variety of merchandise. You can get just about anything you need out of this one store for extremely reasonable prices. This is another one of the many reasons why people like shopping here. Every Friday, Steve & Barry’s stores receive new shipments of new styles of clothing. The items they have on the rack change quite frequently so that the consumers do not get bored with their material. A constant change of merchandise keeps customers in the stores, buying their products. When customers keep coming to the stores to shop and spend their money, it means that they are happy with the business; happy customers make successful businesses.
There is no other store that can even compare to the prices at “Steve & Barry’s” wholesale store. The items sold there are high quality and durable; coats and shoes that range from prices as low as $6.98 to as high as $10.98. There aren’t many places out there that sell these kinds of quality items for these remarkably low prices. No one can even come close to competing with these prices not even the infamous Wal-Mart. As stated earlier, shopping here at Steve & Barry’s is like having a 40% discount at Wal-Mart. These low prices are what are going to keep Steve & Barry’s in business. Since Steve and Barry’s is not considered “name brand” clothing, the best thing for them to do is to keep the prices low. Say that “Steve & Barry’s” allowed their prices to skyrocket, people would no longer allow themselves to buy their clothing. Though they are popular, Steve & Barry’s are not even close to ranking with designer names such as The Gap, Old Navy, or Aeropostale. For this reason Steve and Barry’s’ best bet would be to keep their prices where they are; this is the only way they would stay in business.
If a person were to look, they would find that a Steve & Barrys was located not far from there residence. Steve & Barry stores have been strategically placed in areas where the lead consumers are mostly. Lead consumers include young adults who range from the age of 13- all the way up to 24. This core group, spend there time in the malls or they are living on campus. Therefore most Steve & Barry locations are located inside of a mall or within no more than 5 miles from it and on different college campuses. Steve & Barry stores are found everywhere. If one were to only look hard enough they could find one not too far from their own house.
Steve & Barry’s great customer service, wide variety of merchandise, great prices and convenient locations, are important all important factors that will help this business to continue to prosper. However, if people were to stop shopping at Steve & Barry’s, one of two very negative things could happen. First, the low affordable prices that have been sweeping the nation could skyrocket in an upward direction. Not shopping here would cause the company to loose money, forcing them to make up for the loss by upping the price on their merchandise. The second thing that could happen is Steve & Barry’s could go bankrupt and be put out of business. Putting Steve & Barry’s out of business would only cause the American shopper to go out and spend much more money on clothing that they wouldn’t have spent had they bought in at Steve & Barry’s.
